The Association promotes, amongst other activities, the organisation of biennial International Congresses of Design Research, at appropriate venues around the world. IASDR has organised congresses in Taiwan (2005), Hong Kong (2007) and Seoul(2009).

The 2005 IASDR conference was held on 1-4 November, 2005 in Yunlin, Taiwan.

The 2007 IASDR conference was held on 12-15 November, 2007 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, Hong Kong, China.

The 2009 IASDR conference was held on 18-22 October, 2009 in Seoul, Korea. The venue brought together top design researchers and practitioners to build and advance knowledge in the field of design.
